Tutorial on How to Register

 

We are currently accepting registration for the 2016 Tournament on July 2 and 3. The deadline for registration is June 26, 2016.

You can register for the Chess Open manually or right here online. To register manually

  • Download the printable entry form for manual registration ( VIEW | DOWNLOAD).
  • Print the form and complete it
  • Submit the Registration Form as indicated below before June 26, 2016

  • Click the appropriate button below.
  • Complete the form.
  • Print the confirmation if you so desire

 

 




Entry Fees

Register as a team or individually. Registration cost and guidelines

Teams

  1. A team is comprised of three (3) persons
  2. Teams can be comprised of a combination of players from any section
  3. However teams can only have one (1) player from the Elite section
  4. Teams will pay their individual registration fee minus a 10% discount.

Individual Entries

  1. Fee for individuals in the Elite section is $2,500
  2. Fee for individuals in all other sections is $1,500
  3. Fee for students  $1000.00
  4. Late registration is an additional $500

The following entities are also authorized to process registration on behalf of the St Jago Ches Open Tournament for 2014:

The registration period begins immediately and ends June 26, 2016.

All entrants must be paid-up members of the Jamaica Chess Federation.

The St. Jago Chess Academy presents

THE ST JAGO CHESS OPEN – July 2 & July 3

Register Now! Enter as a team of three or as an individual.

When: Saturday July 2 & Sunday July 3 2016. [NB: Elite section ONLY might start on Friday July 10th to get in a fifth round]

Start time: Saturday 8:30am; Sunday 8:30am

Where: “Cradle of Jamaica’s First Fide Master – Grantel Gibbs” &  Home of 2012 and 2016 National Champions St. Jago High School, Ravensworth, 33 Monk Street, Spanish Town, St. Catherine.

Tournament will be FIDE rated. Sections are as follows

  1. The Ravensworth Elite Unit
  • Open to players rated 1900 (FIDE) and above only. Four (4) or five (5) rounds TBC by May 30th – Game in 90 with 30-second increments per move from move one.

Prizes to be announced

 

  1.  The St. Jago Open Unit
  • For players rated below 1900 (FIDE) only. Six (6) rounds (three (3) rounds each day) – Where digital clocks are not enough, analog will be used with a time limit of Game in 90.

Prizes to be announced

 

  1. The St. Jago Intermediate Unit
  • For players rated below 1600 (JCF) only. Six rounds (three (3) rounds each day) – Game in 75 Minutes

  1. The St. Jago Amateur Unit
  • For players with no JCF or FIDE rating only. Six rounds (three (3) rounds each day) – Game in sixty.

  1. Primary and Preparatory categories

Open to players attending Primary or Preparatory schools only. Six (6) rounds. All games in one day – Saturday July 2. Where digital clocks are not enough, analog will be used with a time limit of Game in 45.

  • 12 and under
  • 10 and under
  • 8 and under

 

JCF MEMBERSHIP FEES

Adult - $2,000 per year. Juniors - $1,000 per year

Half (½) Point Bye

NB: Half (½) point bye available only for the first round and will only be allowed after proper registration.

“PROPER REGISTRATION” means paying the relevant fees in addition to completing and submitting the registration form within the time stipulated.

All teams must have a name!  See list of names to choose from or create your own.

 

Register early so that teams with sponsors can get Tee Shirts if their team has a sponsor. Indemnity Statement

In consideration for me being permitted to participate as an entrant or competitor in this competition, I, my heirs, executors and administrators hereby release, waive and keep indemnified St Jago Foundation, St Jago High School, St Jago Chess Academy and all clubs, associations, companies participants, competitors, entrants and all of their respective agents and servants from and against all actions, claims, costs, expenses, demands in respect of death, injury, loss or damage to my person or property howsoever caused by arising out of my permission to attend at, or in any way participate during or subsequent to the said St. Jago Chess Academy whether as spectator, participant, or competitor, entrant or otherwise, notwithstanding that the parties abovementioned their servants and or agents may have contributed to the aforesaid injury death or loss.
